The Sacks of Hope project was initiated by third and fourth grade students of teacher Leon Lewandowski in Room 9 at Franklin Elementary School in Santa Barbara, California. These students, who don’t have much themselves, got together to bring hope to homeless people by providing them with basic necessities. The benefits from this simple program for the children, and for the community, now and in the future, are truly immeasurable. The popularity of the Sacks of Hope project spread quickly, and it is now now being implemented by other teachers at Franklin Elementary as well as teachers in different schools in California.
